Several Downtown churches will be participating in Elevate Sudbury on May 28 by assisting the Louis Street Community Association with their community gardens beginning at 9 am on Louis Street. The plan is to assist in placement of tire gardens, filling them with soil and planting colourful annual flowers in them. We will also assist with the turning of vegetable gardens and the planting of seeds. Another project we may be helping with will be the placement of colourfully painted old bicycles. These bikes will be cemented in place with baskets of annual flowers perched on the handlebars. After the gardening ventures we will enjoy a barbecue with the residents of the Louis Street community.
We are enthusiastic garden helpers and happy to work together under the leadership of June Davis, coordinator of the Louis Street Community Association.
Please visit the Louis Street area and see how a community association with the help of their downtown neighbours nurtures community pride by planting colourful flower and delicious vegetable gardens.
